The Seven Deadly Sins of Atheists
by Tanya Peabody
God has graced some of us with the courage and will to accept Jesus Christ into our hearts at this time of great trials and tribulations. However, God has also left us with plenty of work to do. In order to heal the world, atheism must be extinguished from the face of the earth. Rarely do we ever take the time to explain why it is that atheism is a scourge, so for your reading pleasure I have written here my correspondence with God on the matter of the sins of atheism.
1. Atheists have no problem holding hate in their heart, especially against those who have found God.
Atheists haven’t accepted Jesus Christ into their hearts, so there is plenty of room for the Devil to jump in, yell “SURPRISE!” and encourage them to fault others, hold grudges, and fear the unknown.
2. Atheists think they know.
Ever had to have more than a 30 second conversation with an atheist without arguing? It is impossible. Most atheists only care about one thing, and that is telling you that your belief in God is wrong. When you tell them that their disbelief is wrong, they go into a hissy fit. Sometimes they even try to argue that belief in God is no different than belief in a pasta monster. They don’t even seem to realize that God is not a man in the sky to anyone, God is EVERYWHERE. God is EVERYTHING. God’s hands are our hands. God’s breath is our breath. God’s eyes are our eyes! It is truly sad that the hate of atheists allows them to misunderstand us believers in God so much. To disbelieve in God is to claim that there is nothing.
3. Atheists are hypocrites.
Atheists always blame religion for all the world’s problems. They claim that religion creates hypocrites. They don’t stop there though, because they take the opportunity to distance themselves from believers by hating them for how they are. They chalk up belief to some kind of personality defect or psychological problem and move on. Meanwhile, they turn into a sniveling rat who can’t be around people who aren’t also atheists, because they can’t handle a little cognitive dissonance when their solipsistic worldview gets challenged, or worse, they realize they aren’t as happy as us believers. You don’t want to see the red-faced God-hating rat who notices that.
4. Atheists lie.
Atheists tell people, including their children, that God doesn’t exist and that Jesus Christ didn’t die for their sins. God does exist and Jesus Christ did die for our sins.
5. Atheists are cowardly.
Because atheists don’t believe in an afterlife, they fear death much more on average. Without having faith in God there is no grace for them in this world. Atheists are known to enjoy staying indoors, reading books other than the Bible (unless it is to satisfy some insecurity), and avoiding physical danger.
6. Atheists are disagreeable.
Atheists get most of their enjoyment in life from arguing with people. If it weren’t for that, there would be nothingĀ to distract them from their suffering. Right now I’m doing the atheists a favor by giving them all a reason to live for another day, because that is just the sort of kind, charitable soul I am.
7. Atheists kill.
Atheists don’t have morals, so if cornered or threatened they will kill to save themselves. They will also kill to protect their possessions. If it weren’t for their money, they would be revealed for who they are. Some notable atheist murderers are Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, and all of the people who comprised the militaries which executed their genocide of millions. Atheists will kill to get what they want if they can get away with it, because they have no reason not to. No morals, no path, no reason to love another human being. I’ll be lucky not to receive anger and threats about this article.

Although I respect you as an editor I think you’re quite wrong in these matters. I do however look forward to many more long nights drinking red wine after work and discussing these questions with you.
Don’t joke about that, I don’t want my church friends who read here thinking that I partake in Satan’s Syrup.
I’m an atheist and I love people. As I see it faith in god requires, well… faith. I don’t think any person can condemn someone for not having faith in God in a world filled with mass-murderers, on both sides of the religious coin. We are so far divorced from the time when all the religious texts were written by man, they no longer help explain the world to me (my opinion, you DO NOT HAVE to agree.) Yet somehow, I believe people are still worth loving, that we aren’t all at heart selfish murderers, even when we do act like monsters killing and oppressing one another for religious and non-religious reasons (but most of the time the two are polemically intermingled.) So I guess I have faith in my fellow man, and through that faith I too have morals, which you have just denied me the ABILITY to even have. If god is everything, and you have faith in god, why don’t you have any faith that I too can be good? If you think god is everything, am I not a part of it because I don’t believe what you do? That’s not very faithful of you, not very pious, not very human, and not at all American.
You might be good for a little while. You might have learned to talk the talk. Only time will tell if you can remain a good hearted soul. However, you are not going to heaven unless you accept Jesus Christ as your savior.
Hilarious! I love how you bash on people for their beliefs, claiming that you are the only right one… who is the true hypocrite?
You are, for bashing on me for mine. I’m trying to save these people.
If Jesus was love, and preached or taught love, then when said “the only way to the father is through the son” meant/means, IMO, love… The only way to eternal happiness is love..
Causing others harm, physical or mental, especially for the sake of salvation, makes no sense… Telling others they’re wrong in they’re faith, be it in nothing or somthing, dosent help..If you truly wish to save people then cool, but save yourself and others the frustrations by spreading the love message that the Jesus charecter supposedly died for, not by spreading decention and segregation. Save yourself through love, and hope, and hopefuly others will choose to immulate.
Thanks for the read, hope you the best…
Yours truly
fish, follower of the pasta monster.
What ever happened to love thy neighbor?
Seems a bit hypocritical that you are saying Atheists are closed minded awful people (overgeneralizing much?) yet you yourself have taken the time to create this catalog to bash and say that THEIR belief is wrong….making you no better than and Atheist!
Also, what the hell kind of sorry excuse for journalism is this?

As someone who was raised in a Christian house but does not follow any religion myself allow me to politely point the flaws in your logic. I cannot speak for all people in my position (being a non-Christian or someone who follows any religion for that matter) but I would like to clean the slate as it were and explain politely that you cannot group all atheists and non-believers together with overgeneralized statements.
1) “Atheists have no problem holding hate in their heart”
I personally don’t “hold hate” in my heart. I do get mad at people yes, but I don’t hold onto hatred. I try to live and let live, forgive and forget, let bygones be bygones. The only times I’ve ever found myself holding a grudge towards anyone the person in question was harassing family members and friends I view as brothers or sisters.
2) “Atheists think they know”
I am more than willing to say that I don’t know everything. I’m more than willing to ask if I don’t understand something, even when it’s about religious things.
3) “Atheists are hypocrites”
I believe that if you investigate anyone, regardless of their faith, you will find them to be hypocritical. I’m sorry to say that I find myself being hypocritical sometimes but my Christian grandmother, Christian brother, Christian mother, Christian father, and Christian neighbors all are hypocritical too from time to time.
4) “Atheists lie”
Again I’m sorry to say that everyone lies at one point in their lives. “Where did (name of old family pet that died here) go?” or “Where do babies come from?” come to mind. And my Christian grandfather on my mother’s side lied to his wife about the numerous affairs he had. So anyone and everyone can lie.
5) “Atheists are cowardly”
Anyone is capable of being a coward. If you’re afraid of the dark and refuse to go outside your own home because it’s dark isn’t that a sign of cowardice?
6) “Atheists are disagreeable”
While I am disagreeing with your points I do not gain any pleasure from doing so. I actually feel saddened by your overly simple generalization of atheists. I will be happy to agree when things if I actually agree, if I do not I will politely say that “you have a good point, but in my opinion…..”. I try to be agreeable.
7) “Atheists kill”
My dear, again I’m sorry to say that everyone kills. May I remind you of the Spanish Inquisition or the Salem Witch Trials? Both were groups of Christ-believing people who murdered others for not believing, or just because someone lied about the one being murdered.
I hope I’ve been polite about this whole thing, if I’ve been overly rude I sincerely apologize.
Now, I am indifferent either way to religion. I don’t particularly worship a God but I do not deny the possibility of there being one. However, you should realise a lot of the things you’ve said here are exactly what religious people of ANY religion also do.
1. Believers often hate those who do not believe in their God specifically and condemn them for doing so.
2. Believers often claim they know that everything is down to a single deity creating the Universe and everything in it. Yet, they will not hesitate to go into a hissy fit themselves when someone merely mentions a difference of opinion.
3. Believers are also capable of doing these same actions. Many blame those who don’t follow a religion for problems in the world, especially when it comes to situations requiring a “salvation” of some sort.
4. There is no solid evidence to prove whether or not Jesus Christ was indeed the real son of God. It is known that there was a person called Jesus and that he did actually live many many years ago, but how do you know you yourself are not spreading a lie to future generations?
5. Many religions, including Christianity, are also afraid of what happens after death, particularly when it comes to Hell or the equivalent of such a place in other beliefs. No one is fearless of such a thing, not even you.
6. Religion, particularly Christianity from my experiences, is full of items to argue over even within the religion itself. The conflict between the Catholic and Protestant factions in Northern Island have actually forced walls to be put up around Belfast to prevent rioting and violence for years. Arguments happen and everyone is free to live the life or believe the belief they choose to, it’s not up to a religious person to judge whether someone is “suffering” when said religion can cause the same problem.
7. Again, no religion is free from the capacity to kill. The Northern Island segregation mentioned before has killed many over the years and the current threat of terrorism that has the potential to kill thousands of people is down to groups of RELIGIOUS extremism. Besides, doesn’t the Bible actually encourage violence and killing in various passasges as punishment for adultery and whatnot?
If you plan to strike out against something that is against your own opinion, at least take both sides into account. Yes, atheism has it’s problems and some stereotypes you’ve mentioned can be applied. But religion is not “sin-free” and never will be.
Wow I sure was right about how you atheists argue.
This is a first at this website. Probably my last.
Having read a few comments, I can only conclude that the person/s who advocates “The 7 deadly sins of atheists” expresses more about themselves than atheists. And what idiocy–lumping all atheists as thinking alike. Sure, it catches the eye, but after 30″ one has to wonder about the person who sees in this manner. Black and white thinking-like a child, or should I say a typical Catholic stuck with their 3-4 grade mentality of god. Give me a break. Better yet, you would appear a whole lot more intelligent it you just capped it!
Tom… Tom…
I don’t understand why you’re being so uptight, I’m only expressing simple views, which you seem to have no argument against aside from mere ad hominem attacks. Really, as an athiest you are a failure to your religion. You didn’t even respond to my article line by line for four and a half hours. Shame, Tom. For shame.
